Martial Artist Scott Adkins Joins Marvel’s 'Doctor Strange' The Wrap reports that martial artist turned actor Scott Adkins has joined the cast of Marvel Studios and director Scott Derrickson's "Doctor Strange" starring Benedict Cumberbatch ("The Imitation Game"). Sources close to the production say Adkins will be filming multiple action sequences including hand-to-hand combat.  Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is producing "Doctor Strange" with a script written by "Prometheus" screenwriter Jon Spaihts.

The role up for grabs is of The Ancient One, a Tibetan sage who serves as mentor for Cumberbatch’s Dr. Stephen Strange. The character is male in the comic book universe, but at present it’s unclear if Swinton would play the part as such. Scott Derrickson will direct from a script by Jon Spaihts, and the film will hit theaters on Nov.

Morgan Freeman, Bill Nighy & More Up for Role in 'Doctor Strange' Now that Marvel Studios has officially confirmed "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch as the title mystical hero in Doctor Strange, the focus has shifted to the supporting roles. So far nobody else has been cast in the film that will be directed by Scott Derrickson (Deliver Us from Evil) and written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus), though there have been rumblings (and potentially confused details) about Daniel Bruhl's character from Captain America: Civil War potentially crossing over into Doctor Strange.

Things May Be Heating Up On Doctor Strange Movie We have an interesting report from Screen Daily about a release date for and shooting time for Marvel’s upcoming film Doctor Strange. The report says that Marvel is in negotiations to film the movie at Pinewood Studios in May 2015 with a planned release date of July 8, 2016. The film has a director in Scott Derrickson and Jon Spaihts is working on the latest version of the screenplay.

Marvel's Doctor Strange adaptation is inching closer to reality. Shortly after hiring director Scott Derrickson to helm the project, the studio has reportedly entered talks with screenwriter Jon Spaihts, who's said to be "in negotiations" to write the script.
