Jared Harris Ready To Cry "U.N.C.L.E."

darkhorizons.com – Jared Harris ("Mad Men," "Fringe," "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows") has joined the cast of Guy Ritchie's "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." at Warner Bros. Pictures. Harris plays the role of Sanders, though no details are available on the role. Filming begins next week in England, Rome, and Naples. Warners has also released a new synopsis for the film, confirming it will keep the period Cold War setting of the original TV series:

Kiefer Sutherland has signed up to oppress people in Paul W.S. Anderson's disaster movie Pompeii, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The actor will play a scheming Roman government official who tries to get his hands on a merchant's daughter while a volcanic eruption threatens to doom the entire city and its populace.

Set in 79 A.D., POMPEII tells the epic story of Milo, a slave turned invincible gladiator who finds himself in a race against time to save his true love Cassia, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant who has been unwillingly betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator. As Mount Vesuvius erupts in a torrent of blazing lava, Milo must fight his way out of the arena in order to save his beloved as the once magnificent Pompeii crumbles around him.

Paul W.S. Anderson's 3D 'Pompeii' Adds Jared Harris

deadline.com – Sherlock Holmes star Jared Harris has joined Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) and Kit Harington (Game Of Thrones) in Paul W.S. Anderson‘s period 3D action-adventure. Harris will play Lucretius, a wealthy merchant whose daughter Flavia (Browning) is imperiled as Mount Vesuvius erupts and slave-turned-gladiator Milo (Harington) races to save her. Apparently, no one’s ever won an Oscar for playing a president. I suspect that’s why director Steven Spielberg cast Daniel Day Lewis. (Better odds.) His eerily smooth performance as the 16th president is a consistent mix of gawky authority and patrician ease. He instructs his Whitehouse staff with parables and anecdotes; the elders don’t all appreciate it but the younger staff clings to his stories like good students, listening intently for cues.
