Nobody outside the Sony boardroom thought the Spider-Man franchise really needed a reboot so soon after it started, but director Marc Webb made the most of the situation with The Amazing Spider-Man -- even if the movie itself was sort of pointless, it told Spidey's origin story (yet again) with a reasonable amount of panache, and with a terrific cast besides.
