If you’ve so far avoided checking out the first trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens because you don’t consider yourself a fan of one of the most famous, popular and profitable film franchises in cinematic history, well, that’s kind of weird. On the other hand, it’s not too late to get on board with the series, especially since we have an entire year to go until J.J. Abrams’ entry in the franchise zips into a theater near you. That’s plenty of time to catch up on six three films!

Ever since it was first announced that the Star Wars brand had been purchased by Disney, we’ve only been given minor breadcrumbs regarding what to expect from the future of our beloved Galaxy Far, Far Away. After months of searching, Lucasfilm defied the ongoing battle between Star Trek and Star Wars fans – by hiring J.J. Abrams as the director that would helm the yet-to-be-titled Star Wars: Episode 7.

Anthony Daniels, the actor who has played the famous droid C3-PO in all of the Star Warts movies including the upcoming seventh film, took to twitter to make a bold claim. From what we’ve heard, J.J. Abrams was always the director Kathleen Kennedy wanted to direct Star Wars Episode VII. Abrams had the ability and the insane Star Wars fandom to please executives and fans alike. However, don’t forget, he initially turned it down. History gets murky after that, with an incredible list of A-list directors who were rumored to, and reported to, have been contacted. Just like in the beginning of Return of the Jedi, it took a while, but Han Solo is ready to go again. Harrison Ford‘s leg injury appears to be almost fully healed and after a two week hiatus, Star Wars Episode VII will resume shooting later this month. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, which was expected considering the July 6 update revealed the hiatus. But after writer director J.J. Abrams and crew finished filming in Ireland, he was spotted back in Los Angeles.
