Disney's 'Into the Woods' Featurettes Arrive in Time for Awards Buzz "Once upon a time, in a far off kingdom, there lay a small kingdom at the edge of the woods." Since awards season is in full swing, so is all the campaigning by studios to get their film's noticed by the voters of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (voting closes today before the nominations are announced next week). And Disney has been making a big push to get Into the Woods noticed, especially on the technical side of things.

How Broadway’s ‘Into the Woods’ Became Disney’s Holiday Hit Broadway musicals are no lock to translate into box office success at the movies, but Disney’s star-laden adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” did just that over the holiday weekend — better than any movie-musical ever has. “Into the Woods” opened on Christmas Day and wound up edging “Unbroken” to finish second to “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” with $46.1 million over the long weekend.
