‘Think Like A Man’ Duo To Script Lionsgate’s ‘Instructions Not Included’ Remake

EXCLUSIVE: As the sequel to their 2012 Steve Harvey book adaptation Think Like A Man hits theaters today, the writing team of Keith Merryman and David A. Newman have been hired to adapt another hit property. They’ll script Lionsgate’s remake of the Spanish-language comedy Instructions Not Included, about a playboy whose life is rocked when an old fling leaves a baby on his doorstep.

Despite its star-studded cast, it’s difficult to imagine that the dance film Battle of the Year would do much more than meet its rather small projected gross for the weekend. It was not even able to do that, however, and its counterpart in the new releases this weekend was the only one to pull its predicted earnings.

Given that Riddick was the sole film to open in theaters this weekend, and had little competition from releases of previous weeks, it’s no shock that Vin Diesel and David Twohy’s latest collaboration was able to handily pull in the largest gross over the weekend.

Valentin (Eugenio Derbez) is Acapulco’s resident playboy–until a former fling leaves a baby on his doorstep and takes off without a trace. Valentin leaves Mexico for Los Angeles to find the baby’s mother, but only ends up finding a new home for himself and his newfound daughter, Maggie (Loreto Peralta).

If someone had told you that a documentary about One Direction would be the film to top the charts over the weekend, knocking two other releases out of the park, you probably wouldn’t believe it. If you were told that an indie film also beat out the other two new releases, you definitely wouldn’t buy it.
