Hugh Jackman Shows Off His Blackbeard Look For Joe Wright’s Pan “Blackbeard is born,” says Hugh Jackman in a new selfie posted today to his Instagram. That would be Joe Wright’s version of Blackbeard, who will be serving as the main villain in his Pan, a revisionist retelling of Peter Pan. It’s now filming in London, with Garrett Hedlund, Rooney Mara, Amanda Seyfried and newcomer Levi Miller in tow as Peter. Blackbeard looks a lot like how Jackman’s Jean Valjean looked at the beginning of Les Miserables.

The actor posted a photo on Instagram of his new look -- a bald head and pointy beard -- for his role as Blackbeard in the upcoming movie "Pan." It's a far cry from his appearance when he hosted Sunday's Tony Awards, where he sported a full head of hair and a bushier beard.

X-Men: Days of Future Past
This weekend may see something spectacular happen—the Phoenix-like rebirth (pun only slightly intended) of a franchise with a shaky past, as Marvel takes a potential huge step forward with the X-Men series. It isn't perfect, and it's probably not a very good entry point for anybody unfamiliar with the film series and its comics counterparts, but for a movie that sends an enormous cast hurling around the world and across time, X-Men: Days of Future Past does a pretty darn impressive job of never losing sight of its plot.

Hugh Jackman in "X-Men: Days of Future Past"
A couple of days ago, Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” the sequel to “X-Men: First Class” that unites popular cast members from the entire franchise, scored a near perfect 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. I was thinking it can’t possibly stay that high by the time it opens today; my prediction was mid to high 80s.

The first of which was “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” focusing on the series’ most popular character. The second was “X-Men: First Class,” which goes back to a time when the mutants were younger and figuring things out.
