Summit's Highlander remake has hit another snag with the exit of director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. According to Deadline, Fresnadillo and Summit didn't see eye-to-eye on the direction of the movie and they both agreed that the best course of action is for them to part ways.
deadline.com – EXCLUSIVE: When it comes to directors on the movie Highlander, there can be only one. But it won’t be Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. The 28 Days Later helmer has exited Summit’s reboot of the film, which still has Ryan Reynolds poised to play the title character. I’m told that his exit is amicable, and that after a year of working on the project, he and Summit could not get past the fact they had differing views of the film, and finally agreed to disagree. 1 year 14 weeks ago via jackiechan
ign.com – As you probably know, a remake of Highlander has been in the works for quite a few years now. Ryan Reynolds must really want to swing a sword in front of camera because he's in the running – the front runner actually, according to Variety – for Summit's Highlander remake. Sources says both sides are very interested in working together for the movie. However, the report is quick to point out that the discussions are in the early phases and that Reynolds is weighing other offers and may choose to do one of those instead.
screencrush.com – 20th Century Fox Ryan Reynolds has not had an easy time with franchises. He’s the kind of handsome, charismatic and blandly likeable actor you’d think would be leading his own action franchise by now but despite a few attempts – his ‘Blade’ spinoff went nowhere, ‘Deadpool’ continues to go nowhere and the less said about ‘The Green Lantern’ the better – has come up empty. 1 year 42 weeks ago via donnieyen
