Guillermo del Toro News
Guillermo del Toro’s love letter to movies and TV shows about giant piloted-robots battling giant monsters, Pacific Rim is getting a sequel in 2018 in the form of Pacific Rim: Uprising. Daredevil season 1 showrunner and Spartacus TV show creator Steven DeKnight is calling the shots on the Pacific Rim sequel, though del Toro helped to get the project off the ground after it was seemingly-almost canceled, apocalypse-style.

For now, the only actor confirmed to appear in the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi blockbuster is The Force Awakens star John Boyega, but he’s going to need a bit of help if he wants to cancel the apocalypse (again). Enter Scott Eastwood, Fury star and son of Clint, who is currently circling a role opposite Boyega in Pacific Rim 2.

The on-again, off-again talk about a sequel to Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim has taken a very positive spin. Steven S. DeKnight has been hired to direct Pacific Rim 2, according to Deadline, and Universal Pictures will release it in 3D worldwide.
DeKnight cut his teeth writing for television, first for MTV's Undressed, then for Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel (on which he began serving as a producer as well), and Smallville. He scored big by creating...Read MoreRead Comments

Benicio Del Toro's character, the Collector, didn't really get to do very much in either of his Marvel movie appearances (post credits in Thor: The Dark World, and a slightly bigger part in Guardians of the Galaxy), but it did seem that he was being set up to play a more prominent role in the events of the MCU moving forward.

Guillermo del Toro is a busy man. After having helmed the recently-released Crimson Peak, the director wasted little time in starting to line up his follow-up project. He is now in talks to direct a remake of The Fantastic Voyage, a 1966 sci-film about a submarine crew who are shrunk down to microscopic size to travel inside an injured scientist and repair his brain damage (without the benefit of Dennis Quaid). Fans of del Toro’s giant monster movie Pacific Rim will undoubtedly take note of one particular detail about The Fantastic Voyage, though: it is not Pacific Rim 2.

Guillermo Del Toro offered some updates on Pacific Rim 2, and announced that the script is finished and it's been submitted to Legendary/Universal.The sequel was originally set to hit theaters in summer of 2017, but that's since change and the date has yet to be announced. Del Toro is suppose to start work on the low-budget vampire movie Silva, which means 2018 is probably the earliest release date for Pacific Rim 2. Check out Del Toro's tweet below:PACIFIC RIM 2: Budget and script went in. No answers yet. If anything happens, I will post.

Guillermo del Toro‘s Crimson Peak is a deliciously dark and twisted piece, set in the most gorgeous, most decrepit haunted house you’ve ever seen and anchored by three mesmerizing performances from Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, and most especially Jessica Chastain. It’s also not the horror movie that’s being sold in the trailers, but a Gothic romance. Think Jane Eyre plus ghosts, not The Conjuring plus corsets.
That’s not such a bad thing if you happen to love costume dramas, but it can be an unpleasant surprise if you don’t.

In just a few years’ time, Jessica Chastain has gone from being a relative unknown to an an A-list actress thanks to films like The Tree of Life, The Help, and Zero Dark Thirty. In the past year alone she’s starred in Interstellar, The Martian, and as of this weekend, Crimson Peak, Guillermo del Toro’s cinematic love letter to gothic horror and romantic melodrama.
In Peak, Chastain plays Lucille Sharpe, sister to Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) and an all-around wonderful pianist.
