Godzilla (2014) News
Briefly: After scripting the successful reboot of Godzilla this past summer, Deadline reports writer Max Borenstein has been brought back to Legendary Pictures to script Godzilla 2, which has already been given a release date of June 8th, 2018. That's pretty far out, mainly since director Gareth Edwards has a Star Wars spin-off to direct before he returns to the King of Monsters, but it's good to hear that Legendary is getting Borenstein to work on the script right away.

This week: Godzilla roars back, Leatherface revs up for his 40th, and fighting itchy eyes with The Fault in Our Stars.
► GODZILLA really was the summer’s misfit blockbuster, refusing to go the ‘Transformers’ route and puke out two hours of CGI monster fights. It was a strangely muted, surprisingly somber remake which...

Rawwwwwwwwr! This summer saw "Godzilla" come stomping back into theaters under the stewardship of "Monsters" director Gareth Edwards, to enormous success: the film made $200 million domestically, and over $500 Million worldwide, immediately launching a new franchise (the second film is due for release in 2018, once Edwards is done with his "Star Wars" spin-off, which, like his first two movies, will hopefully focus on two monsters trying to fuck each other). But the film got a more mixed reaction from critics and audiences.
Casual moviegoers may not recognize the name Gareth Edwards, but it's more than likely that this will change in the next couple of years.

Two super powered individuals went toe-to-toe at the box office, and the eventual winner proved brains beat brawn.
The number 1 film this weekend is Lucy (read our review) with $44 million. The premise might be extremely far fetched, but something about this unconventional sci-fi flick from director Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, The Professional) struck a chord with audiences.

Below is some news Gareth Edwards fans probably already know, but if you’re just a casual moviegoer, you may not even recognize his name. Edwards is the director of Legendary Pictures’ “Godzilla,” a movie that almost grossed $500 million worldwide and should probably crack that number when all is said and done (the movie is teetering just on the edge of hitting $200 million at home as well).
This is an astonishing feat if you consider the only feature Edwards had made before this was the low-budget “Monsters,” which made all of $237,301 in 2010.

There's some great new footage featured in the latest trailer for Constantine, though a lot of it might be familiar if you managed to get your hands on a copy of the recently leaked pilot episode. However, we also get to see some scenes here which are NOT from that first instalment, so it's well worth watching either way. In related news, David S. Goyer told IGN TV that Papa Midnite and the Newcastle Crew will both be making their way into this season at some point, and they're not the only familiar faces who will be popping up.
