Gods of Egypt News
Gods Of Egypt currently sits at 12% of Rotten Tomatoes, and has come in for quite a savaging from the majority of critics. It's also failed to make much of an impact at the box office because of strong competition from the likes of Fox's Deadpool, which is still performing very well after a couple of weeks on release.
The movie's director, Alex Proyas, has not taken too kindly to this, and has posted a lengthy response to his Facebook page. Here are some excerpts.

R-rated superhero movies may be the hottest “new” thing in town now that Deadpool is ruling the box office, but there have been plenty of mature comic book adaptations that have paved the way over the years. Among the best known examples is 1994 cult hit The Crow, based on the comics by James O’Barr, which is currently in the process of getting a long-delayed big screen reboot.

“Gods of Egypt” grossed $800,000 at the box office Thursday, looking at a $11 million to $15 million opening weekend for the fantasy film.
“Eddie the Eagle,” an inspirational sports movie starring Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman, only soared to $175,000 from 1,700 locations on Thursday.
With a production budget of $140 million budget, the $800,000 start for “Gods of Egypt” is a weak one — the Lionsgate film is looking to bomb with a cumulative gross of $27 million, according to BoxOffice.com.

Gods of Egypt has looked like a disaster since those goofy character posters arrived so long ago and most of the trailers have looked downright bad. However, I’m starting to think that this isn’t an ordinary disaster. Oh, no.

Tomorrow, America's annual tradition that combines high calorie food, hokey entertainment, expensive advertising, hours of pre-game programming, and somewhere in there, a football game, will get underway with the Super Bowl. And that means Hollywood will be in full force promoting everything they can, even if it's stuff like "Gods Of Egypt."
Lionsgate has unveiled their game day ad for the CGI dazzler, which brings together Gerard Butler, Brenton Thwaites, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Courtney Eaton, Elodie Yung and Chadwick Boseman for the mythological tale.
