He is playing a thief named Bek who will accompany the Egyptian god Horus on his quest for revenge. Coster-Waldau is playing the Egyptian god Horus whose father Osiris is killed by Butler's Set.

Gerard Butler may be dueling Game of Thrones' Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in Alex Proyas' Gods of Egypt, Deadline has learned. He's in talks to play the villain of the movie -- a god named Set. In Egyptian mythology, Set is envious of his brother Osiris so he kills him. This obviously doesn't sit well with Osiris' son Horus, who vows revenge against his father's killer.
