Gareth Edwards News

Max Borenstein is Returning to Script 'Godzilla 2' for Gareth Edwards Briefly: After scripting the successful reboot of Godzilla this past summer, Deadline reports writer Max Borenstein has been brought back to Legendary Pictures to script Godzilla 2, which has already been given a release date of June 8th, 2018. This summer saw "Godzilla" come stomping back into theaters under the stewardship of "Monsters" director Gareth Edwards, to enormous success: the film made $200 million domestically, and over $500 Million worldwide, immediately launching a new franchise (the second film is due for release in 2018, once Edwards is done with his "Star Wars" spin-off, which, like his first two movies, will hopefully focus on two monsters trying to fuck each other). But the film got a more mixed reaction from critics and audiences.
