Well, it's been about 10 years since we've had an Amityville Horror sequel/reboot/spinoff in theaters, so it looks like 2015 is the year for an allegedly fresh spin on the oft-told tale of well-meaning suburbanites who make the mistake of moving into a haunted house where a crazy person once slaughtered his entire family.

While Jason Blum has a virtual monopoly on the most successful horror movies, some of his staple directors are moving on. After directing The Fast and the Furious 7, James Wan left the Insidious franchise in the hands of screenwriter Leigh Whannell. Blum still expects he can convince Wan to make another horror movie for him, joking that it could be as soon as Insidious 4.

Next "Amityville" Gets Director, Actresses

darkhorizons.com – "Maniac" and "P2" director Franck Khalfoun has come onboard to helm the upcoming reboot of the "Amityville Horror" franchise. Dimension Films and Blumhouse Productions had been working on a found-footage themed reboot called "Amityville: The Lost Tapes". That is now dead, in its place comes this project which will go by the simple title of "Amityville".

Elijah Wood has appeared in many movies before the Lord of the Rings trilogy and will appear in many more after, but to many people, he'll always be regarded as Frodo, the Hobbit who traveled into the heart of enemy territory to destroy the One Ring. In Franck Khalfoun's remake of the 1980 slasher flick Maniac, Wood won't be doing anything so heroic.
