Both of last week’s releases did rather well, bringing on revenues above their forecasted earnings; however, one of last week’s releases truly outdid itself, and brought in quite a bit more than expected.

Though neither of last week’s releases exactly caught the eyes of film critics, one would think that a couple good CGI romps would be able to make it to the top of the charts, especially given that last week’s releases weren’t necessarily hyped up summer super-films. This was not the case, however, as a holdover from last week continued to make top earnings over the weekend.

In the midst of all these super-hyped summer films, one might expect that a few more or less normal releases would be white noise—this was not so, as most of last week’s new releases managed to top the charts.
