Doctor Who Star Matt Smith Joins 'Terminator: Genesis'

Matt Smith, who plays Doctor Who in the eponymous TV series, has been added to the cast of Terminator: Genesis. Smith and body builder Aaron Williamson, who is rumored to play a younger T-800, are the latest to join the production, which is currently filming. According to the press release, Smith will play a new character who has "a strong connection to John Connor." Deadline hears that Smith's role will be more prominent in the second and third movie.

Terminator: Genesis has officially begun principal photography in New Orleans, but when the movie finally makes its way to theaters on July 1, 2015, it may have a different title. As /Film points out, the movie is referred to "the Terminator reboot" in the press release and not by its former working title, so either the movie is simply taking on the original's title or it's going to be called something else.‎

South Korean actor Byung-hun Lee, and Mad Men's Michael Gladis and Sandrine Holt are the latest to board Terminator: Genesis. The movie is shooting this month in New Orleans. Lee is best known in the States as Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe movies, and his role in Genesis is under wraps, but people are already speculating that he may play the Terminator sent out by Skynet to stop our heroes.
