Denzel Washington News

TIFF Review: Antoine Fuqua’s ‘The Equalizer’ Starring Denzel Washington, Chloe Grace Moretz & Marton Csokas An unfazed tough guy walking away from an massive explosion in slow motion, it’s a tipping point reached long ago—this sequence has become a well-worn cliché in the visual vocabulary of pop culture even beyond cinema. Hell, it’s even been celebrated and mocked by the Lonely Island Guys in song. So it’s perhaps both a testament and symbol of Antoine Fuqua’s fortunate/unfortunate filmmaking modus operandi that the director not only embraces the hackneyed sequence, but also attempts to top it and create the most gloriously excessive walking-away-from-explosions scene ever made.

New 'The Equalizer' Trailer: Denzel Washington Talks About Ernest Hemingway, Kills Everyone The new trailer for 'The Equalizer' essentially doubles down on what the other trailers have only hinted at: this movie is all about taking weird pleasure in watching a remarkably calm Denzel Washington kill off the Russian mob. It looks nothing like the TV show it's supposedly based on, but it does look like it'll fall right in line with the bulk of Washington's modern filmography. Once again, he plays the coolest guy in the room and once again, he's a good enough actor to make it all look oh-so-easy. Continue reading…

Denzel Washington Out for Justice in First TV Spot for 'The Equalizer' "There comes a point where you have to help people who can't help themselves." Denzel Washington is back protecting the good people again as The Equalizer, but it doesn't seem to be something he's excited about in this extended TV spot for the action thriller from director Antoine Fuqua. It looks like we're going to get a good threatening monologue from Washington at some point, and that's always great. Plus, if you look carefully, I'm pretty sure Washington smashes a shot glass into someone's eye socket in this TV spot.

There's absolutely nothing that's off limits in MGM's ongoing quest to raid its deep vaults for remake material, and for further proof, Deadline reports that the studio is currently mulling a new take on The Magnificent Seven. The sole mitigating factor in our deep disappointment? It could reunite Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua.

Rumor: Denzel Washington Eyed For Lead In Antoine Fuqua’s ‘Magificent Seven’ Remake

fb.indiewire.com – After a somewhat quiet stretch between 2009’s “Brooklyn’s Finest” and last year’s “Olympus Has Fallen," it turns out Antoine Fuqua was simply preparing something of a massive return to the big screen. Suddenly the director has boxing drama “Southpaw” and “Narco Sub” in the pipeline, following his actioner “The Equalizer” that opens in the fall, but one other project—the long-gestating “Magnificent Seven” remake—seems his for the taking as well -- and it may have a familiar face and collaborator attached. 15 weeks 14 hours ago via donnieyen

Chloe Moretz Inspires Denzel Washington to Kick Ass Again in ‘The Equalizer’ Trailer Columbia Pictures If there’s a preferable Denzel Washington model, it’s the one that doesn’t just kick ass, but makes no qualms about handing it back to the person whose ass he just obliterated. The scary Washington. The quiet, calm, collected one who doesn’t even seem that mad — until it’s too late. You know what I’m talking about. So it’s good to see with The Equalizer trailer that the film isn’t a rehash of a supremely cheesy 80s TV show, but a vehicle for the man to showcase his divine badassery yet again.
