Doctor Who Star Matt Smith Joins 'Terminator: Genesis'

Matt Smith, who plays Doctor Who in the eponymous TV series, has been added to the cast of Terminator: Genesis. Smith and body builder Aaron Williamson, who is rumored to play a younger T-800, are the latest to join the production, which is currently filming. According to the press release, Smith will play a new character who has "a strong connection to John Connor." Deadline hears that Smith's role will be more prominent in the second and third movie.

The Hunger Games' Dayo Okeniyi has landed the final major role in Terminator: Genesis, Deadline has learned. He beats out John Boyega and will play Miles Dyson's son, Danny. Okeniyi will join a cast that includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, and Jai Courtney.

Justin Lin was attached to direct the 5th and 6th installment but had to drop out when he signed on to direct the 6th and 7th "Fast and Furious" movies. It's possible Lin may return to the director's chair once he's completed work on the FF movies.
