Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
This really isn’t all that shocking—the new releases this weekend didn’t win the hearts of any critics, and last weekend’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was the darling of the box office. It was only inevitable that the apes would conquer this weekend’s charts as well.

EXCLUSIVE: DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES Concept Art By Kelton Cram Concept Art by Kelton Cram A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is being directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

Who Really Made Planet of the Apes’ Koba? Warning: Major spoilers follow for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. “Human… work!” So says Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Koba as he reminds his leader Caesar of the many, many scars he incurred in his early life while under human subjugation. Matt Reeves Reveals Details Of Alternate Ending To 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' Plus Narrates A Scene Sometimes America makes the right choice at the multiplex, and we're certainly not talking about the bonkers opening for "Transformers: Age Of Extinction." Instead, this past weekend moviegoers gave a vote of confidence to Matt Reeves' smart and accomplished "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes." That certainly means Fox will be ready to make a third entry in the series (indeed, they've already dated it for 2016) and 'Dawn' ends with Jason Clarke's Malcom warning Caesar that the military are on the way. In short, the apes battle for survival has only begun.

Ranking the Planet of the Apes Movies Some claim Jaws was the first summer blockbuster. Or maybe Star Wars because of the marketing craze it inspired and global phenomenon it became. But Planet of the Apes was the true original – a high-concept, sci-fi feature that was unleashed on an unsuspecting U.S. public in April 1968, packed cinemas throughout the sunny months, and was followed by multiple sequels, a TV spin-off, a comics run, a toy line, a reboot, and a recent prequel-of-sorts.
