‘Life of Pi’ Writer David Magee to Script ‘The Chronicles Narnia: The Silver Chair’

feedproxy.google.com – In an era when most major film franchises are pushing out a film a year — or even more, in the case of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — The Chronicles of Narnia has gone at a remarkably relaxed pace. The first film, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, was released in 2005, followed three years later by Prince Caspian and then two years after that by The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Yann Martel’s bestseller “Life of Pi” was the hipster accessory of the mid 2000s and after receiving multiple book awards, it received its biggest honor becoming a junior hight reading staple. So this story of a spiritually seeking 16-year-old at sea with a wild tiger, ceased its life as a sort of ironic kid’s book for adults and became a book for kids ironically nearing adulthood.

Ang Lee has a gift for putting philosophical subjects into mainstream films. In his newest, the highly anticipated Life of Pi, an Indian teenager scrambles for a religion to moor him, but when his family is forced to leave their native India and the boat that takes them capsizes, Pi (Suraj Sharma) is trapped on a lifeboat with a tiger for nearly a year.
