If reports leaking out of recent test screenings are accurate, Paramount's upcoming Jack Ryan movie has got itself a fancy new title. /Film reports that the studio's cut a teaser trailer that's been making the rounds, and although no one's talking about content, it apparently reveals that the superspy's new adventure is called Jack Ryan:

It's become something of a scapegoat for Hollywood's current love affair with loud, effects-reliant, mostly soulless tentpole pictures, but CGI spectacle isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's only when filmmakers use it to try and distract from under-developed ideas that it ends up feeling hollow; like any tool, it's only as effective as its user allows it to be.

I may spoil by suggestion, inference, allusion and omission. That still spoiling? Like Harve Bennett before him, J.J. Abrams rebooted Star Trek for Paramount. Both took a loved but semi-popular franchise and had to reimagine it to serve the fair-weather fan and the audience who treated the mythology like a religion.
