Yay! News on Jackie Chan’s “Chinese Zodiac.” I miss the days when he would do daily blog entries on his latest productions. If I wanted to see what’s going on in his latest film, I would just check out his production diary. Now, I have to wait for news to pop up on the internet, and especially for “Chinese Zodiac,” they have been sparse.

Now that Jet Li’s 3D martial arts epic “The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate” is kicking massive butt at the box office in China, Donnie Yen has started work on his solo 3D movie: “The Iceman Cometh 3D,” a remake of a minor late 80’s hit starring Yuen Biao. The original film was about two frozen enemies from the Ming Dynasty who wake up in the modern era.

My favorite news site on the HK film industry almost gave me a scare when they stopped updating for a couple weeks. I’ve been reading them in their various phases since the beginning of the internet. I was afraid that this might had actually been their final incarnation. To my surprise and ensuing elation, I saw a bunch of updates today, including this quote about “Chinese Zodiac” from Jackie Chan:

Yesterday was a day of trailer premieres - Men in Black 3 and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. If you blink, you might have missed a promo video for “Chinese Zodiac,” a movie that Jackie Chan promises will be his last action movie featuring hard-hitting martial arts.

I had a bad feeling about Jackie Chan’s “1911” for months now. It was too quiet for an event movie. I didn’t see a trailer until last week, the week it opens in China. Before that, we got a Japanese trailer and a making-of featurette. Other than that, nothing.
