Ridley Scott Won't Direct 'Blade Runner' Sequel Ridley Scott is letting someone else take over the Blade Runner sequel. The director revealed that he is no longer going to direct the film. He helped developed the screenplay alongside Hampton Fancher (who, with David Peoples, wrote the original film), and will still be active in the sequel’s development, but only as producer. A director will be announced later.In an interview with Variety, Scott said, “We talked at length about what it could be and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline.”The project, is planned to go into production next year.
