Bruce Lee Unleashes the One-Inch Punch in 'Birth of the Dragon' Trailer A Bruce Lee biopic sounds like a dicey proposition. How could watching someone pretend to be the greatest fighter of all time (by all means, @ me) accomplish anything other than making the audience wish for the genuine article? But judging from the newly released trailer, Birth of the Dragon has a fair amount going for it. For one, it has the good sense to focus on a single period of Lee’s life, narrowing the film to his early years in San Francisco, when he was building his legendary reputation.

Promo trailer is now online (via Deadline) for Birth of the Dragon starring Billy Magnussen, Xia Yu, Philip Ng, Jinging Qu, and Xing Jing.Set against the backdrop of San Francisco’s Chinatown, this cross-cultural film chronicles Bruce Lee’s emergence as a martial-arts superstar after his legendary secret showdown with fellow martial artist Wong Jack Man.It's amazing to think of what Bruce Lee accomplished — and when.

The film is expected to blend the traditional elements of the biopic with the balletic thrills of wuxia cinema, examining Lee’s life and times while simultaneously acting as a white-knuckle action picture in its own right. A new Bruce Lee movie, titled Birth of the Dragon, is in the works, and this one is said be inspired by the duel between Lee and martial arts instructor Wong Jack Man in San Francisco, according to The Hollywood Reporter. According to some accounts, this fight lasted only a couple of minutes with Lee laying the smack down on Wong.
