Billy Bob Thornton doesn't direct very often -- prior to Jayne Mansfield's Car, he hadn't ducked behind the camera since 2001's Daddy and Them -- but while you might assume he's just being choosy with his projects, it might just be that he doesn't have much to say.

The story of a man who picks up women on his road trips. The story is based in part on Thornton's relationship with Angelina Jolie.


Thornton Directing And Then We Drove – Autobiographical relationship road movie. A decade or so ago, Billy Bob Thornton was juggling his acting gigs with a burgeoning career as a director, helming Sling Blade, All The Pretty Horses and Daddy And Them. He then seemed to retreat back to acting, but apparently these projects come in threes, since Thornton-as-director has just made the Willie Nelson documentary The King Of Luck and the drama Jayne Mansfield's Car, and is now talking about his next idea. 10 years 20 weeks ago via jetli
