Best Picture Nominees 2013: …”inherently thrilling”

11:58 AM 2/11/2013 by Sara Vizcarrondo
ARGO is solid but problematic; Django Unchained is a mess of errant genres; Les Mis is bloated, bombastic and juvenile (which should make it Best Pic frontrunner); and AMOUR is already up for Best Foreign Film so why vote that?

ARGO Wins Best Film from Southeastern Film Critics Association; SEFCA Honors BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD with Wyatt Award

Argo – Plenty of regional critics associations are announcing their winners, but I'm reporting on the picks from the Southeastern Film Critics Association since I'm a member (also, according to Awards Daily's Sasha Stone, we have influence!). With four films in serious contention, Fox Searchlight has a plan – Fox Searchlight's Steve Gilula and Nancy Utley discuss strategies for 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,' 'Beasts of the Southern Wild,' 'The Sessions' and 'Hitchcock.' But it's pretty rare to be pushing the majority of your releases in a single year. 9 years 44 weeks ago via brucelee
