The tale of journalist Glenn Greenwald and his encounter with whistleblower Edward Snowden is coming to a theater near you courtesy of Sony Pictures and James Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. They have optioned the feature rights to Greenwald's book No Place to Hide: Edward Snowden, the NSA, and the U.S.

MGM scored a casting coup when they hired Oscar-winner Javier Bardem to play the bad guy in Skyfall, and now it sounds like they're close to pulling off another one with the 24th entry in the well-traveled James Bond franchise: Variety reports that Chiwetel Ejiofor is the frontrunner for the job.

Skyfall is the highest grossing James Bond movie ever with over $1 billion in global ticket sales, so, obviously, the producers want to bottle whatever happened in that movie and hope for lightning to strike again. This includes having Sam Mendes back to shepherd the project. But due to his other obligations, like his theatrical productions, he won't be able to take on Bond 24, even if he wanted to.
