Assassin's Creed News
Every few years, Hollywood will attempt yet again to adapt a video game for the screen, and you don’t even need every finger on one hand to count the number of times it has worked out well. One example of when it did work: Netflix’s The Witcher, the hit Henry Cavill-led fantasy adventure series based on both the popular video game franchise and books by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Box office experts knew “Rogue One” would stay on top at the box office, but its dominating margin above the competition is something to behold on Christmas Day.
The “Star Wars” prequel starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen and Riz Ahmed is now expected to end its second weekend with nearly $140 million over the six-day holiday.
The Lucasfilm hit should make more than $80 million over Christmas Sunday and on Monday alone, when moviegoers are expected to surge theaters.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is on quite a roll, opening to a hefty $155 million domestic gross during its debut weekend, which is the second best December opening of all time (the first spot belongs to 2015’s Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens). Assassin's Creed is the best film adaptation of a video game we've ever seen. Granted, that's not exactly a huge wall to scale. The world of video games adapted to the big screen has had more valleys than peaks, and problematic films like Silent Hill and Resident Evil are considered the best this brand of movie making has to offer. Cult status has been kind to movies like Super Mario Bros. and Mortal Kombat in recent years, but even those fall into the category of fun rather than good. Leave it to a filmmaker like Justin Kurzel (of Snowtown and Macbeth) to show how it's done.
