Annabelle Wallis News

Annabelle Review

IGN Movies - Thu, 2014-10-02 08:00

A prequel to 2013's fact-based horror hit The Conjuring, Annabelle tells the "origin" of that movie's possessed doll. Culling elements from Rosemary's Baby, The Conjuring, and Insidious, Annabelle isn't a Chucky-style killer doll movie but rather the umpteenth movie in recent memory about demonic possession. The aptly named Annabelle Wallis stars as (no, not Annabelle) Mia, a possible nod to Rosemary's Baby star Mia Farrow. Like Rosemary, Mia spends most of the movie pregnant and dealing with supernatural forces at play in her apartment building.

The main story in last year's hit horror flick The Conjuring boasted plenty of scares, but the movie's prelude -- which set up the starring ghosthunter duo Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) by depicting a bit of one of their more infamous cases, involving an allegedly possessed doll -- also raised plenty of goosebumps.

Rebel Wilson has signed on to star in Sony Pictures' action-comedy Grimsby, alongside Sacha Baron Cohen, Mark Strong and Annabelle Wallis. The story centers on a British black ops spy, who is forced to go on the run with his idiotic, soccer hooligan brother (Sacha Baron Cohen). Annabelle Wallis is playing one of the soccer hooligan's suitors, although no details were released regarding Rebel Wilson's role.
