The Mummy – Filming The Zero Gravity Stunt In 360° The Mummy may have been DoA in the U.S., but globally ‘It’s Alive!” and about to cross the $300 Million mark. The film is topping most global markets this weekend and one of the centerpiece scenes is the zero-gravity stunt / airplane crash. Universal has now released a 360° video showcasing just how the stunt was filmed. This includes a discussion with star Tom Cruise who went director Alex Kurtzman and pushed for this type of stunt after reading about the plane crash in the script.

Alex Kurtzman directing Universal’s reboot of The Mummy Universal has found a director for its forthcoming reboot of The Mummy, with THR reporting that Alex Kurtzman will be the man to take the helm. We recently brought you news that Kurtzman and new writing partner Chris Morgan had been charged by the studio with creating a new crossover universe linking all its classic monster franchises, with The Mummy set to be first out of the gate. Now it appears that Kurtzman’s duties will extend beyond sketching the overall template for said universe, with THR claiming he is in the final stage of negotiations to direct that first film.

Universal's classic movie monsters, which includes Dracula, The Wolf Man, Frankenstein, Creature of the Black Lagoon, The Mummy, and others, are closer to having their monster bash, with Alex Kurtzman & Chris Morgan tapped by the studio to lead the their big screen revival. Kurtzman and Morgan are to "expand and unify a network of classic characters and stories," according to Deadline, which sounds they are going to do what Marvel has done with their superheroes properties.
