Warner Bros.' attempts to produce a live-action version of the classic anime Akira have so far amounted to a giant boondoggle, with a lot of fan angst and one jilted director (Allen Hughes) to show for it. Jaume Collet-Serra has had his own bumpy road with the project, with rumored budgetary concerns scotching one early attempt, but he re-entered negotiations with the studio last fall, and it sounds like things are finally on track.

Which is just as well - set to star Garrett Hedlund, Ken Watanabe, and Kristen Stewart with direction from Juame Collett-Serra (ORPHAN, UNKOWN), a moderately-budgeted Americanized remake of the classic... 7 years 37 weeks ago via theothersenhman

Paul Dano Confirms He Tested For 'Akira,' Says Someone Like Rian Johnson Should Direct

Paul Dano
fb.indiewire.com – One of the busier actors in show business has to be twenty-eight year-old Paul Dano. Having turned heads in the moody indie “L.I.E.” when he was only sixteen years old, it was only years later before he was able to stand toe-to-toe with Daniel Day-Lewis in “There Will Be Blood,” cementing his status as a fresh face that wasn’t going anywhere. 7 years 40 weeks ago via brucelee
