Michael Bay's "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Banghazi
During my weekly podcast with Binh Ngo, I was low on Michael Bay’s “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.” Although Bay loves the military (its soldiers and many gadgets) and can make a highly entertaining action film, I didn’t think his fans care much about Benghazi, the subject of the film.

Owen Wilson in "No Escape"
When I was writing my review of the Owen Wilson/Pierce Brosnan action thriller “No Escape,” I was surprised -- and curious -- to find that there’s NOT a single mention of Thailand in the film’s official synopsis. It just uses “Southeast Asia” as the setting.

Taken 3
It hardly seemed like the stuff of a trilogy in the making when it debuted in 2008, but Taken made a ton of money while repositioning Liam Neeson as an unlikely late-blooming action hero, so here we are, months away from what's supposedly the final installment in the Taken franchise.

Matt Damon Will Reunite with Paul Greengrass for a New 'Bourne' Sequel

The Jeremy Renner-fronted Bourne Legacy spinoff did all right enough -- in fact, Universal's been planning a sequel -- but all things considered, it's been hard to escape the feeling that the Bourne franchise has been in a bit of a fog since Matt Damon walked away from the character of amnesiac assassin Jason Bourne following the third installment in the series, 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum.

5:16 PM 9/5/2014 by Jeff Giles
It's taken a long time to get going, but now that the Terminator franchise is on the verge of clawing its way out of development deep freeze, it appears as though it'll be with us on a regular basis for the foreseeable future. Paramount is feeling so optimistic, in fact, that sequels to the upcoming reboot Terminator:

November Man
Thus far, the reviews for Pierce Brosnan's upcoming action thriller The November Man have been pretty awful -- and the movie hasn't even opened yet -- but clearly, Relativity Media like what they have on their hands here, because according to Brosnan, the studio is already moving ahead with a sequel.

'Bad Boys 3' Is Happening, Says Martin Lawrence

Bad Boys
Nearly 20 years after the first installment and more than a decade after the first sequel, it looks like the long-discussed Bad Boys 3 is finally grinding into gear -- at least if we can take franchise co-star Martin Lawrence at his word. During an appearance on Conan August 13, Lawrence was asked about the possibility of another Bad Boys sequel, and he didn't mince words.

Vin Diesel Still on Board for 'xXx 3'

11:24 AM 7/21/2014 by Jeff Giles
It's been years since we've heard any kind of update regarding that long-mooted third installment in the xXx franchise -- you know, the one that'll bring Vin Diesel back to the fold after yielding the starring role to Ice Cube for 2005's xXx: State of the Union. But as easy as it's been to assume that the project is in development limbo, it looks like Diesel hasn't forgotten.

Pacific Rim
They took their sweet time about it, but Universal and Legendary have finally gotten their acts together and pressed the button on a sequel to Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim, with a scheduled release date of April 7, 2017. Del Toro will be back, of course, and has promised fans, "We are happy to be bringing you more Jaegers, more Kaijus, kicking each other’s butts."
