Pacific Rim
It's going to be quite awhile before we really get an honest look at the upcoming Pacific Rim sequel -- that April 2017 release date seems awfully distant on the horizon at this point -- but if there's one person who has any idea of what we can expect, it's director/co-writer Guillermo del Toro, who recently sat down with Collider for a discussion that included a few tantalizing details.

Whether or not you're 100 percent on board with Troy Duffy as a filmmaker or a human being, it's hard not to hand it to the guy for the sheer persistence with which he's devoted himself to the Boondock Saints movies -- as well as the grassroots cult fanbase that's built itself up around the two chapters in the series over the last 15 years.

Xwing
We can't (yet) see what our old friends Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewbacca are up to on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII, but we've already been granted a sneak peek of R2-D2 -- and now, director J.J. Abrams has thrown back the curtain on our first look at the return of the X-wing fighter. The ship, piloted by Rebel insurgents in their battle against the Empire, seems set to be making a return to action in Episode VII, at least judging from the glimpse we get via Abrams' new "Force for Change" video.

Christina Chong
For a film that initially looked to be something of a sausage fest, Star Wars: Episode VII is shaping up to be a rather distaff-friendly slice of sci-fi. In the latest of several recent casting announcements, British actress Christina Chong has been added to the mix. Chong joins a growing list of new faces in the upcoming sequel, including Daisy Ridley, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, and Crystal Clarke; her recent credits include an appearance in the Fox miniseries 24:

'Star Wars: Episode VII' Filming Partially in IMAX

10:11 AM 7/9/2014 by Jeff Giles
IMAX
There may not be a franchise on the planet (or in a galaxy far, far away) more perfectly made for IMAX than Star Wars, but the format's rise has occurred mostly during the saga's time away from theaters, so they've mostly been kept apart -- although the prequel trilogy shot by George Lucas in the late '90s and early aughts did end up being blown up and projected on those really, really big screens.

Harrison Ford to Miss Eight Weeks of 'Star Wars' Filming

Harrison Ford
While the rest of us are doing backflips over J.J. Abrams' decision to heavily incorporate real sets rather than relying totally on CGI for Star Wars: Episode VII, Harrison Ford is laid up in a hospital bed, reportedly because the Millennium Falcon has a really heavy door.

Harrison Ford
He may or may not have shot first, but Han was certainly injured first -- or at least his real-life counterpart, Harrison Ford, was when he reportedly hurt his ankle on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII this week, necessitating a trip to the local hospital.

'Magnificent Seven' Remake Could Star Denzel Washington

Denz
There's absolutely nothing that's off limits in MGM's ongoing quest to raid its deep vaults for remake material, and for further proof, Deadline reports that the studio is currently mulling a new take on The Magnificent Seven. The sole mitigating factor in our deep disappointment? It could reunite Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua.

Review: 'Maleficent' Belongs to Angelina Jolie

Maleficent
"Let us tell an old story anew," begins the voiceover that accompanies Maleficent, and although that's an appealing notion on its face, it's one with which modern moviegoers have become overly acquainted in recent years; if you've set foot in a cineplex lately, you know they're all stuffed with reboots, remakes, sequels, and reimaginings, and Disney's latest live-action effort falls squarely into the latter camp, offering a revisionist take on Sleeping Beauty that purports to tell the tale of just how, exactly, that nasty old witch ended up cursing an innocent baby to fall in
