All is Lost and Margin Call director JC Candor's tense New York City set drama A Most Violent Year opens in theaters on December 31. The film follows Abel Morales (Oscar Isaac), an ambitious immigrant who works to build his business and protect family in 1981, the most dangerous and violent year in the city's history.

The resemblance to Sidney Lumet's work in the '80s is not accidental.
