Scarface Remake Hires Straight Outta Compton Writer Universal is reportedly moving forward with the Scarface remake and has tapped Straight Outta Compton writer Jonathan Herman to rewrite the script. (Paul Attanasio and David Ayer wrote the previous drafts.) Source THR notes that Pablo Larrain is still set to direct the film, which will take place in Los Angeles and explore a Mexican immigrant's rise to power in the criminal underworld. The original Scarface story spawned two films, one in 1932 and one in 1983.
