Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg Reuniting for 'Daddy's Home'

Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn nearly reunited for the new comedy Daddy's Home last year, but the project fell apart. Now, reports Deadline, it's back on again -- only this time, Ferrell's Other Guys co-star Mark Wahlberg is in talks to join the cast.
Deadline's report goes on to add that original director Etan Cohen (who co-wrote the script with Brian Burns, Chris Henchy, and producer Adam McKay) has stepped away from the project, with Horrible Bosses 2 directors Sean Anders and John Morris in talks to step in. Paramount, happier than ever to be in the Wahlberg business with the fourth Transformers movie looming on the horizon, is trying to get deals done quickly.
The synopsis sounds like Daddy's Home will offer a rough retread of the odd-couple dynamic that fueled The Other Guys, with Ferrell playing "a mild-mannered radio executive who strives to become the best stepdad ever to his wife’s two children," only to be frustrated when the kids' layabout father (Wahlberg) shows up and forces a competition for their affection. Not the most original premise in the world, but if we've learned anything from Ferrell's film career, it's that some guys work best with a partner -- and in his case, pretty much anything he does with a comedy foil turns into box office gold.
