'White House Down' Trailer Offers Channing Tatum As America's Last Hope

After showing enough common courtesy to let 2013's other White House-set action thriller tank at the box office, Roland Emmerich is ready to start rolling out the big guns for his next explosion extravaganza. Ready to have your freedoms saved by Channing Tatum, America?
Tatum shares top billing with Jamie Foxx in Emmerich's White House Down, but he's unquestionably the star of the show in Down's first trailer -- or the human star, anyway, since everyone knows that in an Emmerich flick, it's the set pieces that are really selling tickets. And this clip makes it clear he isn't skimping on stuff blowing up in White House Down -- starting with our proud titular landmark.
As for the plot? The acting? Who cares? Nobody looks for either of those things in a June action movie with Roland Emmerich's name attached; if you're taking the time to watch this trailer, you only want to see a suitably heroic leading man kicking ass and taking names in a time of unimaginable crisis, and you can be darn sure Tatum is going to give you his best Die Hard impression here, right down to the bloody tank top.
None of it looks particularly original, and we're guessing you might want to bring earplugs. But that's par for the course with summer blockbusters at this point, right?
