'Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?' Finds Its Writer

Darren Lemke, the screenwriter for Shrek Forever After and Jack the Giant Killer, will pen the screenplay for the live-action adaptation of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? for Walden Media, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jennifer Lopez is one of the movie's producers and may play the title character, but at this point, she's only attached as a producer.
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? is a video game in which Carmen Sandiego is head of a international criminal organization called V.I.L.E. They steal treasures from around the world and it is up to the player, as a member of the ACME detective agency, to find and arrest these criminals and, ultimately, Carmen Sandiego herself.
In the movie adaptation, Sandiego was once ACME's top agent before something caused her to switch sides. Her former partners at the agency must follow the clues she left behind to track her down.
From the sound of things, the movie is targeting the younger set just like the TV shows based on the video game.
Lopez was recently seen in the comedy What to Expect When You're Expecting, a comedy inspired by that baby bible of the same name. She will be starring opposite Jason Statham in action-thriller Parker that's coming to theaters on January 25, 2013.
The Lemke-penned Jack the Giant Killer was supposed to come out June 15th this year, but was pushed back to March 22, 2013 for "competitive reasons." Lemki also wrote the screenplay for DreamWorks Animation's Turbo, a movie about a snail who wants to race.
