What's Popping: Trailers for 'Prometheus', 'The Hobbit', 'The Dark Knight Rises'
This was a good week for trailers, not because there were tons of them being released, but because what got released were some of the most anticipated movies for next year: Wrath of the Titans, The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus, and The Hobbit: An Expected Journey.
On Monday, Warner Bros. dropped the trailers for two of their summer tentpoles. Sure enough, the trailers for The Dark Knight Rises and Wrath of the Titans didn't disappoint.
In what may be the final Batman movie from Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale, things are finally catching up to the Dark Knight. Not only will Gotham be in utter chaos, but Batman himself will suffer a humiliating defeat at the hands of Bane. How will Batman dig himself out of this latest mess? Will Robin or Batgirl make their appearance in the movie as the rumors have been suggesting? Those questions and more will be answered on July 20, 2012.
If Clash of the Titans is Rocky, then Wrath of the Titans is Rocky IV. Everything is turned up a couple if notches, especially the action. The Titans are loose in the world and the gods are powerless to stop them. Perseus will, of course, have to do the all heavy lifting. Those CGI battles certainly look very impressive though.
On Tuesday, we were treated to the trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first of two Hobbit movies coming our way. If you've seen the Lord of the Rings movies, you'll know what to expect here since it's made by the same people. If anything, the trailer is surprising for its lack of surprises.
Fox has such high opinion of Ridley Scott's Prometheus that they've released three teasers over a span of three days to tease the trailer. Then when the trailer finally arrived on Thursday ... can we all agree that Prometheus is the prequel to Alien?
