What's Popping: 'Star Wars', 'Susan Cooper', 'Creed', Vin Diesel, 'Avengers 2'

Star Wars

According to recent rumors, Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron have been taking meetings to play Luke Skywalker and Han Solo offsprings, respectively, in Star War: Episode VII. We'll see if this rumor pans out because, in the past, Lucasfilms like to use relative unknowns for the lead characters. In related news, John Williams is back to score the new Star Wars movie.

Melissa McCarthy is in early talks to re-team with Paul Feig in the female spy comedy Susan Cooper, which is said to be in the vein of The Heat and is not a parody like Johnny English. The movie is developed as a potential franchise.

We thought we've seen the last of Rocky in 2006's Rocky Balboa, but he's set to return as a trainer in a spin-off movie titled Creed, which will be centered on Apollo Creed's grandson. Fruitvale Station's Ryan Coogler is set to direct and talks are underway with Michael B. Jordan to bring him on as the lead.

From the hints Vin Diesel has been dropping, it seems like he's a lock to appear in one of Marvel's superhero movies. As what character, we don't really know. It has been speculated he may play either Thanos or an android named The Vision. Diesel has also teased another Xander Cage movie on his Facebook page.

We found out the next Avengers movie is subtitled Age of Ultron, which is a storyline in the comics where Ultron has taken over Earth and has driven the planet's superheroes underground. According to director Joss Whedon, the movie may not follow exactly what's in the comics, like Ultron's origin.
