What's Popping: 'Man of Steel 2', 'Doctor Strange', Oscar Noms, 'The Shaolin Temple', '24'

The Man of Steel sequel that will feature Ben Affleck as the new Batman is no longer coming to theaters on July 17, 2015, but will instead move back a year to May 6, 2016. The official reason? The delay will give Zack Snyder and Co. "time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story."
The nominations for the Oscars are out and American Hustle and Gravity lead with 10 noms each. 12 Years a Slave follow with 9. Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club, and Nebraska all have 6. The complete list is here.
Justin Lin is making his move in the China market with The Shaolin Temple remake. His production company will collaborate with Beijing Enlight Pictures and Bruno Wu's Seven Stars for this $100 million plus picture.
Kiefer Sutherland and the other producers of 24 have been trying to bring 24 to the big screen since the series ended its run back in 2010, but nothing came of it. Instead, the show is making its way back to TV with a new 12 episodes mini-series titled Live Another Day. Does this mean the movie has been shelved? Not necessarily. "No, the script for the film is very, very different," Sutherland said. "The film is an ongoing kind of situation."
On the Johnny Depp front, there's a rumor going around that the actor has been targeted by Marvel to play Doctor Strange. Talks are reportedly underway, but with Depp's busy schedule, he may not be able to fit this one in.
