What's Popping: 'Justice League', 'Guardians of the Galaxy', 'Star Wars', 'MI5', 'Grinch'

Justice League

If the rumors are true, then the Justice League movie might be in more trouble than we realized. The first hint of this came when word got out that Warner Bros. is waiting on Man of Steel's box office returns to decide on whether or not to get the cameras rolling on the movie. This week, another bomb shell dropped. Supposedly, the studio is not happy with Will Beall's script and may choose to scrape it in favor of a new one. Of course, this is all rumors and speculations until proven otherwise.

Guardians of the Galaxy has found its Peter Quill, and that person is none other than Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt. He was chosen over a list of actors that includes Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Lee Pace, Eddie Redmayne, and others. Can't wait to find out who will voice the Rocket Racoon character. Jim Carrey? Adam Sandler?

We know Disney is developing stand-alone Star Wars movies outside of the main storyline that will focus on secondary characters, and it looks like the first one out of the gate will reportedly center on Yoda. Han Solo and Boba Fett are also rumored to have their respective stand-alone movies as well. Can a Lando Calrissian movie be far behind?

It's official: Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise will reteam for Mission: Impossible 5. McQuarrie, who was rumored for the job, has tweeted that he's "deciding to accept" Paramount's offer to write and direct the movie. Cruise must have put in a good word for McQuarrie because writer-director has only directed two movies thus far and both of those movies are well below the $100 plus million budget expected for the fifth Mission: Impossible.

Those disappointed with Jim Carrey's live-action adaptation of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas will be happy to hear that Universal and Illumination making a new animated 3D movie based on Dr. Seuss' book ala The Lorax. Pete Candeland is set to direct.
