What's Popping: 'ID Forever', 'Interstellar', 'Tomb Raider', 'Ninja Turtles', 'Captain America 2'

Independence Day

The Independence Day sequels, called ID Forever Part I and ID Forever Part II, will take place 20 years after the events in the first movie, when the aliens return to finish up what they've started. As for who will be in the movie, director Roland Emmerich has this to say: "It's still some of the same characters, but also new younger characters; it's a little bit like the sons take over." James Vanderbilt is currently polishing the two scripts.

Christopher Nolan is doing a sci-fi movie called Interstellar next, and he has his eyes set on Matthew McConaughey to headline the picture. He will play a character named Cooper who is probably one of the people who went through a wormhole and ended up in alternate dimensions. Interstellar is set for release on November 7, 2014.

GK Films and MGM are teaming up to develop new Tomb Raider movies. Angelina Jolie, who played the lead in the previous two movies, won't be returning to reprise the role since the new Tomb Raiders will have a "young and dynamic Lara Croft," which pretty much ruled out Jolie. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are writing the script.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has found all four of its Turtles. They will be voiced by Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo), Jeremy Howard (Donatello), and Noel Fisher (Michaelangelo). Megan Fox is the movie's April O'Neil.

The third Iron Man shown in China will have "significant Chinese elements," according to a press release by Marvel Studios. Not only that, "[t]he Chinese version of the film will also feature a special appearance of China's top actress, Fan Bingbing, and will offer specially prepared bonus footage made exclusively for the Chinese audience." Felt left out? Just wait for the Blu-ray/DVD release.
