What's Popping: 'Friday the 13th', 'Men in Black', 'Guardians of the Galaxy', 'Avengers 2', 'Black Mass'

Friday the 13th

More Friday the 13th and South Park movies may be coming our way because Warner Bros wanted to have the privilege of paying for Christopher Nolan's sci-fi flick Interstellar. According to reports, the studio has to give up control of both properties to Paramount for a piece of that Nolan magic. While no movies based on these two properties are currently in development, it's only a matter of time.

Will Smith is hinting that he may be done with the Men in Black franchise. "I think three is enough for me. Three of anything is enough for me," Smith said. However, he's leaving open the possibility just in case Sony is willing to pay him boat loads of money to return.

Benicio del Toro has joined Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy in a mystery role that will span several movies. The initial guesses have him playing Thanos, the main villain who is rumored to be pulling the strings in Marvel's phase 2 movies, but recent rumor pegged his role as that of The Controller. You know what would be even more awesome? Del Toro as the voice of Rocket Raccoon.

Johnny Depp dropped out of the gangster flick Black Mass over a salary dispute, but there's a chance he may be pulled back in. According to conflicting reports, Depp is either completely out or has "a 95 percent chance" of doing the movie, depending on who was asked. If he does return, he'll have to take a significant pay cut.

Robert Downey Jr's deal with Marvel has ended, and the parties are back at the negotiating table. If they can't get a new deal done, that will mean someone else will be playing Iron Man the next time we see the character on the big screen ... which probably won't happen because director Joss Whedon just said he has "no intention of making Avengers 2 without him." Your move, Marvel.
