What's Popping: 'Baywatch,' 'Doctor Strange,' 'Tetris,' 'Crouching Tiger 2,' 'Angry Birds'

Baywatch

Larry Kasanoff, the CEO of Threshold Entertainment, thinks that brands are "the new stars of Hollywood," so his company is producing a Tetris movie.

Dwayne Johnson is apparently taking his talents to Baywatch. He is reportedly attached to star in an unspecified role. Sounds like a paid vacation to us.

Talks between Joaquin Phoenix and Marvel fell through so the studio is looking for another to play the title character in its forthcoming Doctor Strange. Ethan Hawke is rumored to be the frontrunner.

To grow subscribers, Netflix is producing its own original series and movies. The company's latest deal with The Weinstein Company to stream Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Destiny at the same time as its theatrical release has the theater owners refusing to carry the movie.

The Angry Birds movie is real and the voice cast has been announced. They include Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, and Peter Dinklage.
