What's Popping: 'Age of Ultron', Rocket Raccoon, 'Good Dinosaur', 'Bourne', 'Postal 2'

Guardians of the Galaxy

James Spader has been cast as the voice of Ultron in Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ultron is the villain in the sequel, and we'll find out why this man-made robot (its origin may be changed in the movie) is so pissed off at the Avengers.

Bradley Cooper is officially joining the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy as the voice of Rocket Raccoon, a bipedal, gun-toting raccoon-like member of the Guardians. You read that right, an Oscar-nominated actor is playing a raccoon. Good thing Cooper is just doing the voice.

Pixar has pulled director Bob Peterson off The Good Dinosaur and, until a new director is named, the movie will be placed in conservatorship comprised of John Lasseter, Lee Unkrich, Mark Andrews, and Peter Sohn. Apparently, this is a common enough occurrence at Pixar that one shouldn't be surprised by it. Ratatouille, Cars 2, and Brave also chanced directors during production.

There's a rumor going around that Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass are in talks with Universal to return for more Bourne movies. Universal was quick to dismiss this rumor, but we can't help thing that if given a choice, the studio would want them back. Stay tuned.

Until Germany made changes to its tax laws in 2005, Uwe Boll was able to fund films from companies looking for tax breaks. Since that's no longer an option, he's relegated to direct-to-video movies, working with much smaller budgets. For his latest, he's trying to raise $500k on Kickstarter for Postal 2, a comedy that will take on current political issues like Wikileaks, Edward Snowden, and prison camps. Oh, joy!
