Not even the big G.O.D. can stop N.W.A., “Straight Outta Compton” remains #1 at the domestic box office for the third weekend in a row with $13.2M, upping its total to $134M.

It got unexpected competition from Christian film “War Room,” which actually beat it on Friday, $3.9M to $3.8M.

However, opening films tend to be more front-loaded, so the Universal music biopic was able to make up ground on Saturday.

This is a great weekend for African-Americans at the box office where the two top two films featured African-American leads, despite the obvious difference in content.

“Straight Outta Compton” opened in several foreign markets this weekend and took in $8M. I’m curious to see how this film would perform overseas in the coming weeks, who may not be as familiar with the N.W.A. or as current with our country’s recent confrontations between the police and the African-American community.
