Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Warm Bodies’ Ascends Charts, ‘Bullet to the Head’ Beaten By Holdouts

The box office grosses played out very predictably this weekend; this meant good news for one of this last week’s releases, and not-so-good news for the other.
Warm Bodies made the top of the box office chart with a total gross of a little over $20 million (numbers courtesy of Box Office Mojo); given that its ratings were probably better than those of the last two weeks’ other releases combined, this is hardly surprising.
Holdouts dominate the charts for the next few spots: is Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters managed to cling to second-highest earnings at $$9.2 million, for a total of over $34.4 million. At third highest earnings—$8.1 million—is Silver Linings Playbook, riding out its second wave of box office popularity to make a sum of over $80.3 million so far.
Fourth-highest gross went to Mama, which earned $6.7 million for a total of $58.2 million. The next-highest earnings were pulled in by Zero Dark Thirty, which made $5.3 million, adding to a grand total of almost $77.8 million. Last week’s other new release, Bullet to the Head, was relegated to sixth-highest earnings, $4.5 million.
