Watch the First 'Interstellar' Trailer

If Matthew McConaughey can save his own career after starring in Fool's Gold and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, he just might be able to save humanity from a level of menace so vast that it's beyond the scope of anything in our solar system. That seems to be the idea, anyway, behind Christopher Nolan's next venture, the epic sci-fi drama Interstellar -- and after watching this trailer, darn it if we don't want Mr. McConaughey to be permanently placed on civilization's front lines.

As per Nolan's usual standards, the details of Interstellar's inner plot workings are still more or less a mystery; although this clip runs about two minutes in length, it spends more time establishing a sense of earth-shattering danger (and equally immense drama) than getting into the particulars of exactly what's troubling the human race, or what McConaughey's character is after when he soars into deep space.

No matter. If you're anything like us, you had your wallet halfway out as soon as Interstellar was announced -- and after watching this, you'll be ready to pre-order tickets for the first showings on November 7, 2014. Check it out below:
