If you like watching Jason Bateman play a deadpan jerk -- and who doesn't? -- you'll need to set aside a couple minutes of your time to check out the first trailer for Bad Words, featuring star and director Bateman as a foul-mouthed misanthrope who weasels his way into junior-level spelling bees.

What would possess a 40-year-old man to take advantage of the fact he's never graduated eighth grade in order to exploit a spelling bee loophole and compete against innocent children? Thankfully, the trailer doesn't give that away, but it does make it clear that Bateman's character is a horrible human being -- and since Bateman's pretty terrific at playing bad people, Bad Words looks like a lot of fun.

The movie's scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 21, 2014. Check out the trailer below:
